I have just finally (last week!) been prescribed TRT via my GP following a visit to a Private Dr. specialising in this. My GP who admitted knowing nothing about it was helpful, but timid to prescribe without external, advice and agreed to follow the Consulting Drs advice - but even then it wasn't easy, as I had seen an NHS Endo who was positively obstructive!
The years of Opiod painkillers for chronic pain seem to be one of he most likely culprits for my Testosterone levels of about 4.
Now on Tostran gel, nothing has happened yet though!... 7 applications and counting!Early days but I worry if things don't go as planned (I have low SHBG, so I have read of others who don't do well with Gels in this case) just how far he will go along with the Private Drs. advice!
Maybe get some info from the many sources on the web to your GP, (esp. the European Urologists guidelines) and ask if he will support you doing something similar to me? If not, the option on the NHS is to struggle on through with an NHS Urologist... good luck on that - I saw one about 15 years ago, when all this was first being a real problem and he was as much use as a bicycle would be for a fish -if he had known the first thing about the problem, then I might not be in the state I am now!
